On September 8th I woke up at 3:20am with a pain I couldn't sleep through. I had back labor with Juni so I couldn't tell what actual contractions felt like. So I started timing them and they seemed to be every 2 minutes and 40 seconds each. I woke brad up at 3:30 and said I think something's happening so he told me to try and relax and maybe get more sleep because it could take awhile but there was no way I could sleep through that. So we called our midwifes and I had Jenn DeWaard on the phone the whole time so she could talk me through things and hear me at the same time. We wanted to try and slow things down a bit so the midwifes could be there so she had me get on all fours to go against gravity. Things seemed to pick up and I had a lot of pressure and the urges to push. I didn't want to push because I didn't know if it was time or if he was in a good position. I remember feeling a shift in my hips and then my water broke. Then things started getting really painful and my body just wanted to push so Jenn was still on the phone almost here and listening to everything and told me to push if my body really felt like it. I reached down and I could feel his head and my body just continued to push and my mom kept checking while brad went to wash his hands getting ready to catch little man. I remember hearing my mom say his head is crowing and brad runs in and by 4:11am I pushed him out in 2-4 pushes right into Brad's hands while my mom was by my side holding the towel.
Everything was just perfect and he was making little noises trying to clear his airways and he would cry once in awhile and that noise is the sweetest to hear.
10 minutes later Jenn arrived and then shortly after Jennifer Holshoe and Georgiana Stowie arrived and they took over and it was just absolutely perfect and they were so great as usual. Little man was not waiting for anyone he was so ready to meet us. I feel super blessed to have the family support I have and an amazing birth team!
